 Where Are You Now?

I believed I’d meet you here one day
Way back all those years ago
We were crazy
And God knows
How hard we tried
To find the time to get by
You were once my friend
The one who understood me
Who encouraged my strange creativity
And made me feel beautiful as I was
Even though years have parted our grasp
I thought we’d find each other again
When enough time had stretched past
And we were finally responsible grown-ups
Where are you now?
Off living some impossible dream?
Somewhere far away in a place I’ll never see
Every now and then someone speaks your name
And I think of all the years I called you friend.
