(Happy Birthday)

 

 

Don’t cry when you’re scared
When the rain clouds darken your sky
Nicole, you know the sun shines from your eyes
So even the most downcast of days are filled with light
Because you’re there.

Nicole, you've grown so quickly
It seems like only yesterday 
You were coming home from the hospital
And it seems like tomorrow
You’ll be coming home from school
That’s how fast time has moved.

Right now you’re still so tiny
One year of life is marked this June
But still it seems to come too soon.

Nicole,  you've grown so pretty
Like a flower's seed you've bloomed before our eyes
With a bright shining smile so eager for life.

Your laughter’s like birdsong
As you grow and learn more each and everyday
You reach out your hands to grasp each dawning change.

Nicole,  you have the world at your finger tips
So soon you’ll be all grown up
But this June you’ll just be one
It’s the start of many milestones to come.

Some will be sorrowful, some will be wonderful
But all will be as special as you
So happy first birthday, Nicole
