My life is dark and tangled 
Where his, it shines so bright
The greatest gift I've ever known 
His light, his love, his life

Each dawning day fills me anew
With love and laughter and hope for his future
Wise empathy so far beyond his years
He touches my cheek and stills my fears 

His heart already bleeds like mine
And compassion fills him to the core
I do my best to guide him
