Death's Transcendence

I have held the hands if many tired souls
As their bodies faded and spirits were set free
To reunite with loved ones
They'd gone ages without seeing

A gentle death is a beautiful event
A rebirth to another plane
Where time's clock's reset
And the aches and pains
Of the tired, aged body go away

Fragile hands reach for the heavens
As the lines between life and death blur
And visions are seen of loved ones and celestial beings
To offer comfort on that final journey

I have felt the presence of God
Like static in the air
To hum over my skin
And make fine hairs stand on end

I've asked what beautiful images
Can induce such glorious smiles
My questions were denied
Time and again
Bacause it wasn't yet my time
I have no fear of death or dying
I know it's not the end
It's just the transcendence
Of the mortal soul to the higher plane.
