Come, My Love
There are times when darkness seems to surround me
A cloaking mist of shadow that devours every shard of light
And even the distant memory of laughter seems a lie
And I stand, a lonely vigil
Cool black night, star filled sky
For day to break through the night
When I know that it will break me too
I'll fall to pieces when my imperfection and impurities
My utter lacking in every endeavor
Are brought to light
And I'll flee, embarrassedly broken, to the shadows
That are both my comfort and my demise
The darkness chills me and the light burns me
Trapped within the twilight of of illusion
Where my hopes and dreams crumble in my hands
And I'll always be the weakness that defines me
When it's taken so much strength to to survive
The wanting and the aching of the broken soul
I'm powerless against the bleaching of exposed bone
And the sinking bleak shadows that call to me
Offering comfort and demise
So sweetly whispered in a tender lullaby
Come, my love, come hide.
