A Chance At Success

As I fight my past for a chance at success
I see that all of my past mistakes were a test
I stumble and fall at the feet of defeat
And cry as my dreams remain unrealized

I am lost
So far down
Trying my best to understand my surroundings
And do all that I can to break free

Every time I think I have my life planned out
I find a reason to fail

Scared and helpless
Afraid I’ll lose
There’s a battle brewing
It’s me verse you

There’s a pitch black room where I can hide
And wait for the next chance
When I may have the strength to win the fight

There’s an old familiar voice calling my name
I won’t listen
Cause I’m not the same

I keep trying to spin wrong into right
As I prepare for the inevitable fight

It’s me verse you, world
And someone must lose

I close off my mind so that I may find rest
As I fight my past for a chance at success.
